By her own claims, Ando Harumi (née Hlireni Andrano) didn't really feel "strongly" about things as a child; she didn't even feel strongly about being sent to the Kanto region as an expatriate student, she just did as she was told. But by the time she finished school, she had found two passions in life: fashion and swimming. The former was a very niche artistic interest, she thought, but swimming as an athletic pastime among her own people goes back a hundred thousand years; Lunari are prodigious swimmers, and even children are easily able to hold thei breaths for five minutes or more with no practice. After leaving the competitive school swimming circuit, Harumi became particularly interested not in competitions (though she still liked to make money), but in enthusiast free diving, popular in Honshu, Shikoku and particularly Kyushu. However, diving, even free diving, was an expensive hobby: she could not always afford her own wetsuit, much less any sort of diving equipment, and rental wetsuits had a problem fitting her. Travel in particular had to be paid out of her own pocket, and consumed a great deal of what little spending money she had between jobs. Was it worth it though?
"Megumi has her tennis, Arisa her golf, and Saori enjoys suffering for the sake of suffering, but I'm still the best swimmer. And I don't need a wetsuit either!"
[Author's Note: Some more images for Harumi, who is usually last the get it. Harumi/Hlireni is, arguably, the least "interesting" girl of the original four, despite being the second one: at least originally, she was a smaller-breasted, dark-skinned version of Saori with slightly different hair and green eyes. The similarity was a reason why it was necessary to give her some sort of distinctive hobby ("Swimteam Captain-kun") even before the others, and wetsuits are certainly among the area of "cool and sexy" clothing, right there with motorcycle suits and bunny suits, but easier to generate (so long as you ignore all the mechanical equipment). I've had more success with Hlireni Andrano in particularly elaborate fantasy clothing than 20th century fashion.]
