Rename evergreen_tree -> conifer

rename evergreen_tree -> conifer

evergreen_tree is overly broad.
Trees commonly referred to as evergreen trees include holly, magnolias, and bamboo. Coconut, fern, eucalyptus, and a whole host of rainforest trees (both temperate and tropical) are also technically evergreen trees.

Just for reference, Danbooru has 134 conifer posts, and 0 evergreen_tree posts.

evergreen_tree is only used in 6 posts, all for conifers, so it is a safe rename if we want to tag conifers as such without being too specific. Alternatively, we could just nuke the tag, and tag posts with spruce, fir, pine_tree, etc, when they are prominent enough to be tagged.

Edit: Danbooru has 7104 christmas_tree posts, the majority of which I'm sure are confiers, and 901 pine_tree posts. It is barely tagged on Danbooru, so I'm not sure how much value conifer has either. Even if we alias conifer to most conifer trees, we would still have to manually tag which christmas_tree posts are conifers and which are not. A lot of effort for a tag I'm sure the majority of users here won't even care about.

You changed my addition to conifer originally. However, I chose evergreen tree due to evergreens not all being conifers. Regardless of what another site happened to use for a low count tag.. I didn't want to be specific on purpose and left the tag open to just evergreen tree to encompass a larger tag base. Not sure why you are so adamant with changing my post tags as I'm the only one currently using them. I changed them back for this reason and now you are doing a bulk request..

This is exactly why i chose 'evergreen' instead of being specific. To cover a larger base.
Evergreen covers a lot of winter scapes, etc. and aren't limited to just conifers.

I'm genuinely sorry to have offended or upset you. I am paranoid about mistagging things myself, so I occasionally go through my tags and see if anyone had to clean up any mistakes I may have made, which is the only reason I noticed you changed them back myself. That's when I thought to myself, that I must have screwed up, and I decided to look into the tag further and give it some more thought.

You see, I have been trying to clean up a lot of the one off tags, usually just misspellings or alternate names for the usual tags that people simply missed by accident. I then try and add any tags that are missing where appropriate. If evergreen_tree is a useful tag, then I will gladly create a wiki for it and start to use it. I created this br in the tags forum to get others' thoughts on it, including yourself. As I have stated in my reasons above however, I have my doubts to its usefulness.

Now, I wouldn't think this would need to be said, but please understand I have nothing against you, your uploads, or your tagging. I'm trying to help do my part in tagging posts, not creating drama. I am not adamant about changing your post tags specifically, I am interested in changing this tag because I see its use. I just think it could use a name change to be more useful. That is the point of the tags forum, is it not?

You're edit confuses me, all those tags on Danbooru are from people not using broad tags. christmas_trees and pine_trees are untagged conifers already, how does broadening the tag to include all the other evergreens help in that case? Seems we would just have untagged evergreens instead. The only non conifers that will probably show up in snow scapes that we may want to tag as evergreens would be holly and magnolia trees.

I don't know about elsewhere in the world, but where I live bamboo is considered an evergreen "tree" despite not even being a tree. We obviously shouldn't tag all bamboo posts as evergreen trees, same for palms or anything else some people may consider evergreens. See Wikipedia page on evergreen for what all is included. Check online what local nurseries call "evergreen trees" as well, which is what will influence what users call "evergreens" here.

Should we only tag said trees when they are in a snow scape instead then? It could work, but it could be confusing to a lot of taggers as well. Why would a pine_tree be tagged evergreen in a snowscape, but not in a misty taiga when it is still an evergreen tree after all? Either we are excluding certain evergreens based on personal definitions, or we are requiring a tag that is only used in snowscapes despite the name not indicating that whatsoever. Just seems very unintuitive for what will already be an underused tag; a tag which will probably require even more work to keep cleaned up as well.

Finally, I mention Danbooru specifically because they have had at least 17 years to organize and name their tags. They are not always right nor should we always follow their tag definitions, but they serve as a good starting point when thinking about creating new tags. Referencing Danbooru and other boorus provides a neutral point of reference detached from personal ego. It is especially important to try and show that kind of detached neutrality at AIBooru, because self-uploading causes even more personal attachment to uploads and tags than usual. Remember, tags are to easily search and explore posts, they are not your tags. There should be nothing personal about reevaluating a new tag that has no wiki, is used by only one user, and doesn't exist in any of the other boorus checked.

Sorry for the WALL, I tried to be as concise as I can without leaving anything too important out. I just wanted to make clear I am not out to target anyone, and to make my logic for the bulk requests well reasoned and clear so I don't have to waste anyone else's time reading anymore text.

Apologies if I came across a lil heated that day, and delay for response man. I do see your pov and where you're coming form, and have nothing against gardening tags that way no worries. I just wanted to outline I had initially decided to go with that one for the reasons I mentioned initially, however whatever people wanna do as a whole is completely fine 👍I do think aibooru should, not just follow what another site does, but initiate things on their own of course for whatever is best.
