Tag Discussion: Hands Down

Posted under Tags

Hiya~! I've been posting a lot on here and using the tag "hands down" on posts such as post #11408.
Now my question is, is this a viable tag?
I've been thinking that maybe some of them should be "arms down" or "arm down", but maybe it can all be grouped into one tag.
Since there's a "hands up" tag that's pretty common, I believe there should also be a "hands down" tag, since I tend to have a lot of renders with their hands down.
There's also a "hand up" tag, where it consists of a single hand up. So should there be separate tags for "hand/s down" if the tag is viable?
Could become tricky if there's "hand up" and "hand down" in a single post.
Let me know your thoughts...

As I understand it hands down is the default so it doesn't really need to be tagged. I might be wrong though. We have v_arms and hand_between_legs and they might fit your posts better.

Okay so its a default? Could I use the tag to make it more specific?
I feel like hand between legs is much different than "hands down". In the posts I have, its not really hands between legs.
V arms is also an arm post where both arms connect towards the bottom (their hands), so idk. I just feel like there are some newer tags started on here to make things more specific, and I want to make "hands down" be one of them.
For all I know, since its a default I could be wrong but, v_arms and hand_between_legs aren't really what my posts have.
Some examples:
post #11586, post #11343, post #11590, post #11344
While on the contrary, I feel like these posts would more fit v_arms/hand_between_legs:
post #11581, post #11376, post #11406, post #11580
Let me know what you think. Honestly I don't mind taking the tag off and not using it since its a default like you said, but then I wont have a tag for the arms/hands for the ones that don't have "v_arms" or "hand_between_legs".

Most of the tagging conventions used on AIBooru are based off of Danbooru and from what I see after a check, they don't have a hands_down tag. The closet thing that would probably fall into that would be arm_at_side (for one) and arms_at_sides (for both) and some of the posts given as examples here easily fall into the latter tag.

  • Hand between legs wouldn't count unless the legs/thighs are visible in the image itself, and it has slight crossover with v arms. It can be used for standing or sitting, but it's most commonly used with wariza, I believe.
  • V arms is different in that the arms usually still cross the body and can be a standing or sitting thing. I'm not 100% sure if the hands meeting is a requirement (but makes it easier to decide), and the arms need to be a "V" shape, of course.

As for your specific examples: post #11586 (arms at sides), post #11343 (arms at sides, I think), post #11590 (arms at sides+leaning_forward, I think), post #11344 (arms at sides). Then... post #11581 (v arms), post #11376 (v arms), post #11406 (v arms), and post #11580 (I'm not actually sure. Maybe v arms but they don't seem to meet at the end, so...)

Either way, I don't think we need hands down as a tag.

Awesome, this totally answers my question. I never knew about those tags. Will use them in the future, and I'll add an alias for arm at sides with hands down. Thank you~!

If you get the chance, maybe you should add the alias "hands down" for "arms at sides" and "hand down" for "arm at side". I thought I could do it myself but found out otherwise. Up to you though, whether you think its necessary or not. I did see the wiki page for "hands down" and how you took it off my posts, much thanks for the support and quick action! I changed all them to the desired tags :3

I don't think an alias is necessary in this case. It's not a tag I've seen used before the posts you used it on and I deprecated it so it can't be added to posts anymore anyway.

Regardless, you're very welcome. Glad I could help!
