粽子 糉子 粽 糉 ちまき

粽子 / 糉子 (zongzi) or 粽 / 糉 (zong)

Chinese bamboo leaf-wrapped dumplings made of glutinous rice, may or may not have a filling. It has regional various names and recipes, both sweet and salty ones exist.

Enjoyed on the traditional Chinese holiday Dragon Boat Festival on May 5th of the Lunar calendar.

Its Japanese version is called ちまき (chimaki) and eaten on Japan's Kodomo no Hi on May 5th.
