A 2018 Produce 101 spinoff series made in collaboration with AKB48, where a pool of 96 contestants from South Korea and Japan compete for a position in a mixed k-pop/j-pop idol group.

The Korean contestants were trainees from various k-pop music companies, while the Japanese contestants were members of AKB48 and it's Japan-based offshoot groups. The 12 finalists became the members of temporary girl group Iz*One.
