macross plus

Macross Plus (マクロスプラス) is a 1994 science fiction and mecha OVA series set in the Macross universe, directed by Kawamori Shouji and Watanabe Shinichirou and written by Nobumoto Keiko, with music by Kanno Youko.

The story takes place in 2040, decades after the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross. On the planet Eden, three former childhood friends are reunited during a military project to determine a new variable fighter successor, and old grudges and past traumas resurface.

The series was released in 1994 in Japan on home video spread across four episodes, and also saw release in North America and Europe courtesy of Manga Entertainment. A theatrical cut of the series was also released in theaters in 1995 under the name Macross Plus: Movie Edition.
