first indochina war
The First Indochina War was a war between the French Indochinese Independence fighters led by communist Vietnam and France who were attempted to regain the control of the colonies, lasted between 1945 and 1954. The war ended with the both sides agreed on a compomised agreement backed by the the United States to split the country into the communist North and democratic (albeit later dictatorial) South. Tensions between both sides resulted into the Vietnam war in 1960.
