2024 attempted assassination of donald trump

An assassination attempt targeting the former United States president Donald Trump at a 2024 Republican party election campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024.

Trump was shot while giving a speech and survived the attack, sustaining a wound to his right ear and defiantly pumping his fist in the air as he was taken away by his security detail. The shooter was killed by a Secret Service Counter Assault Team sniper shortly after the assassination attempt.

The photographs of Trump raising his fist with an American flag floating in the background has become a subject of meme interest, either as a genuine tribute to Trump or a satire related to the event.
