A traditional Chinese snack of candied fruit. Tanghulu are often mistaken for regular candied fruits; however, they are coated in a hardened sugar syrup. This sweet and sour treat has been made since the Song Dynasty and remains popular throughout northern China.
The most common fruit used for tanghulu is shanzha, but you can also find other variants with strawberry, mandarin orange, kiwi, etc.
Not to be confused with candy apple or dango.
