Shingeki no Kyojin (also known as Attack on Titan) is a manga by Isayama Hajime.
In an alternative past, humanity has been attacked by monstrous giants called Titans. What remains of it has barricaded itself behind a 3-walled fortress-country, and any attempt at war against the Titans has ended with disastrous results. The Titans, however, were unable to breach the walls, and so humanity has lived in safety for a century. One day, 2 unusual Titans appear out of nowhere and destroy the gate of the outer wall. In the ensuing massacre, Eren Yeager sees his mother devoured before his eyes. Swearing to eradicate all Titans, he enlists in the army alongside his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and friend Armin Arlert.
Nominated for the 4th Manga Taishou Awards (2011) and winner of the 35th annual Kodansha Manga Award for Best Shounen, Nominated for the 16th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize (2012).
