Armor made from many, small, overlapping plates sewn onto a cloth or leather backing, usually in a diamond pattern and/or resembling the scales of a fish or lizard.
Sometimes inaccurately referred to as scale mail.
Do not use this tag to refer to lamellar armors, such as most Japanese armors, where the plates are perforated and stitched together in straight, ridged rows.
