Arya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian (Hepburn: Tokidoki Bosotto Roshiago de Dereru Tonari no Ārya-san), abbreviated as Roshidere, is a Japanese light novel series written by SunSunSun and illustrated by Momoko. It was originally published online as two short stories on the novel publishing website "Shōsetsuka ni Narō" from May 6 to May 27, 2020, respectively. It was then acquired by Kadokawa Shoten, who have published nine volumes and a short story volume since March 2021 under their Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint.
A manga adaptation by Saho Tenamachi began serialization online on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket website and app in October 2022. An anime adaptation by DogaKobo has started airing on July 3, 2024.
Synopsis
Alisa Mikhailovna Kujou is a half-Russian, half-Japanese high school student who attends one of Japan's best institutions, Seiren Private Academy. With her unparalleled looks and silky silver hair, she can make anyone turn around if she walks past them. Her elegant persona, alongside intelligence, has made her the idol of her school.
On the other hand, Alisa's benchmate Kuze Masachika is an unmotivated student who sleeps in classes and always plays gacha games. Unable to be honest, Alisa sometimes expresses her thoughts in Russian so that Masachika won't understand. However, unbeknownst to her, Masachika understands Russian as well at the native level.
