The Palace of the Parliament (Romanian: Palatul Parlamentului) is the current official name of the massive, multi-purpose central building (in essence a palace) built by former Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.
However, Romanians commonly refer to it as "the People's House" (Casa Poporului).
Today, this negative heritage of the Ceausescu regime is the only tourist attraction in Bucharest due to a lot of Bucharest being cleared to make way for the colossal building in the years following the 1977 earthquake.
