Translated as "Story of Sorcery". A trilogy of first-person dungeon crawler RPGs by Compile. The first game was released in 1989 for MSX and NEC PC-9801. The characters of this series would later be used in the puzzle game Puyopuyo.
Madou Monogatari's story is considerably darker than the Puyopuyo games, especially the second game where Arle must trick demon guards with sex appeal, she witnesses dead, rotting bodies, and Schezois decapitated, but his head keeps fighting before his death.
A sequel named Sei Madou Monogatari was made by Compile Heart for the Playstation Vita in 2013.
