Unlike many other Hololive members, Suisei had a rough start. She debuted on 2018‒03‒22 as an independent VTuber to little fanfare. She then auditioned for hololive several times but failed. However, Yagoo personally scouted Suisei for INNK Music in 2019, noting her determination. Suisei was given special permission to retain her original VTuber avatar. On 2019‒12‒01, she was transferred to hololive Generation "0" — a special generation comprising of VTubers that joined outside of the normal recruitment process. Additionally, her avatar was updated to its current depiction.
On 2021‒01‒30, she held a mock debut stream in which she proclaimed herself a member of Generation 0 of "hololive Space" and showed two hastily‒scribbled mock avatars for the fake group: Sata An and Moku Seiko.
