Color changing on shrunk images

Posted under General

I noticed a small discussion on post #6427 regarding how colors change on a large image when viewed in its downscaled state. I noticed a very similar problem with my post #6128 which looks way worse (at least on my screen). In case you don't see what I see, I made this Imgur post which shows how it looks on my screen (before enhancing to original resolution).

Posting this to make sure the issue was known to admins and to open a repository for other instances of the problem. I have absolutely no idea if a practical fix is possible. I'll let you guys worry about that.

  • @antlers_anon's post #6224 and post #6318 as well. Merely conjecture, but maybe it has something to do with saturated red values not interpolating properly when scaling or something. I have checked my image's RGB channels and it does have 100% white in some areas in each, which would be considered an illegal value at my 3D job, though none of that should matter for 2D, at least I would like to think.

It must have something to do with screen size/resolution because these two look totally fine to me. For what it's worth, the two from my post are resized to 83%, and the two from yours are resized to 55% (on my screen).

Nevermind. I did a hard refresh on the two from my post and they're good now. Seems like everything is resolved. ๐Ÿ‘
