Furious mistagging with 1girl, 1boy, 1other

Posted under General

1girl and 1boy clearly state on the wikipage that:

If the presence of a character is only implicated, it doesn't count.

Well if you look at the results for both, then despite them being supposed to be equivalent, there's an extreme schism there.
A single pussy doesn't really make any image tagged with 1girl, all of those actually feature a girl to a reasonable decree, and yet countless images with merely a penis are tagged 1boy. Sometimes even just an arm. And we're not supposed to tag by context, but by visuals, and even with a penis present, futanari exists, or also newhalf, which would too be 1other. 1other generally would be the fallback here if the person is only implied/indeterminate.

I suppose I am not even so much looking for discussion here as the wiki pages and the issue are pretty clear. If no one disagrees then maybe in a week or two, or a month I'll edit the wikis to be much clearer and re-tag the offending images, at least a bulk of the newer ones.

post #48938 / post #35211 / post #37849 - you sure about that? This is 2girls on these examples but the point stays the same.

Yeah, I am sure about that. There is still a quite a bit extra of the person in question, at least in post #48938 / post #35211, so I would consider them in this floating area where either 1other or 1girl (or with other one 2girls) are fine. post #37849 though I would already explicitly tag as 1other instead, you don't even see any junk, and tagging shouldn't be guesswork after all. Heck there's a bit of abs too, which while by no means a guy guarantee, muddies the waters further.

I would also edit the wiki as such basically:
- Vague implication (hands, singular genitals with no legs and hence secondary sexual anatomy attached) are always 1other
- Partial bodies leave some room for interpretation, and should probably be tagged as 1other unless secondary features make a reasonably different assumption (like the feminine thighs and the pussy in post #48938 / post #35211)
- If the person in question is substantially visible, the rules should be clear

If you can see a character's body part (specially something like genitals), then their presence is not "implicated", it's explicit.

I would be fine with that too but then the wiki's should still be clarified to make that not up to interpretation but...

That still doesn't make it possible to tell if a disembodied_penis belongs to a guy and would hence be tagged with 1boy, but rather 1other instead as it may also be futanari or newhalf. And the rules are pretty clear that context, interpretation and extrapolation shouldn't be used in tagging, after all the thousand year old dragon loli is still supposed to be tagged loli.
post #22204 is still tagged loli despite the age of the character Senko being known to be high and hence it being clear that realistically speaking it's just a petite adult, but that context is ignored on purpose.
So then stuff like post #54260 shouldn't be tagged 1boy as we can't actually infer that in the presence of other options.
Can we agree on that?

I assert that associating 1boy to penis and 1girl to pussy is best practice for images without the necessary context to infer otherwise.

Given the wiki for 1boy:

An image depicting one male character.

Given the wiki for penis:

The male sexual organ.

Likewise we can see this association for 1girl and pussy. Despite there being no explicit relationship with the gender and genitalia tags, we can at least infer an association based on these wiki definitions alone.

The reason why futanari or newhalf should not be considered a possibility with disembodied_penis or penis_focus alone is due to the lack of context required to imply a character is a female with a male sex organ. Generally this means the futanari character should have other female-defining traits, such as breasts, broader hips, and curves.

I do acknowledge there may be exceptions from this based on additional context, such as imagines belonging to a group or series where a futanari female is out of frame, except for the penis, but based on the relationship of the images establishing a context, futanari can be applied. Take for example this image on Danbooru. Out of context, this could easily be 1boy and 1other, but thanks to the parent/sibling posts, we can see it is actually 2girls and futa_with_female.

Based on these conclusions, 1other should not be used in association with a character depecited with a penis or pussy. This is because of the inherit association of 1boy and 1girl to their respective genitalia tags. On most Boorus I browse, a significant majority of images with 1other refer to a character with limbs in frame, but body our of frame, or characters in costumes or clothing that hide all sex-defining trades. Therefore using 1other to depict a character with a penis or pussy, disembodied or not, is not appropriate.

Hm... yeah. Those are some better points. I don't entirely agree and like it, but I just see no "one size fits all" solution to begin with, so I'd gladly take whatever better clarification works so long as I can prune as much guesswork out of the definitions as possible.

Also I'll definitely keep the thing with actual additional context that can be gleaned from explicitly connected posts (variant sets and sibling posts) in mind because that is definitely a good catch and belongs on the wikis.

Still won't touch anything for a while and keep gathering my own and possibly other thoughts.

Alright. I've edited 1girl/1boy/1other to maintain the spirit by which they are used and make it as explicit and straightlaced as I could. I also brought the formatting for them in line with each other, and made it so that the tags for higher numbers like 2girls don't even have these small side hints and instead properly refer for tagging guidelines to the singular version. Added a reference to variant sets and sibling posts too. This should be hopefully good.

How can you tell from only hands whether it's 1boy or 1girl in your most recent edits? Are these hands particularly masculine or something?
