Nuke Mordred fate apocrypha

BUR #228 has been rejected.

nuke mordred_(fate/apocrypha)

Since we have the tag mordred_(fate), we are referring to mordred in general i think the apocrypha tag is referring to his costume, but since in fate grand order we have the skin mordred_(memories_at_trifas)_(fate) it's the same costume mordred uses in apocrypha i belive the use of the tag is redundant we can only add the fate/apocrypha tag to mordred

create alias mordred_(fate/apocrypha) -> mordred_(fate)

in the post above

If we'd want to get rid of all the variations for Fate, or even change the way they work, we'd need to touch the other variants such as Mordred (Fate/Stay Night) & Mordred (Swimsuit Rider) as well. And that is only Mordred, there's probably hundreds of implications between the Fate tags, so I'm quite uncertain if anyone would want to go through the process of finding out all of them for BURs. It is of course possible to differentiate from Danbooru's system, but see this (and this whole linked topic) to just see what you'd have to go through.

I don't know how different mordred_(fate/apocrypha) is from all of this, but it's not the only case, for example there is lancelot (fate/zero) and its wiki says it's different from lancelot (fate/grand order). As I pointed out, I don't know enough to know if tags like these are left as is intentionally, or if they have just slipped through the cracks, as these "character_(side-series)" -> "character_(main-series)" aliases have been done before.

You're right fate is a spider's web of characters and understood your doubts but here we have a new field to make a difference.
Let me try to explain
Mordred like wiki said is the saber servant of fate/apocrypha in fate/grand_order she have the same version of saber class but if we have a mordred_(fate) this tag in wiki said "Catchall tag for all versions of Mordred from the Fate series."
In this case we no need a tag to make the same reference.
In the case of lancelot are two versions from fate/grand_order one can be the same in fate/zero but the varioation of zero is he appears without his mask, if you search in danbooru he can't have a tag for his version of fate/grand_order its only for his saber form
for reference: https://fategrandorder.fandom.com/wiki/Lancelot
But if we discuss about all diferences we have the same fate as Danbooru we need learn if we have a tag what "Catchall" variations we no need more fragments of the same tag
Seein this case from the point of view of someone don't know about the fate variations its easy use mordred_(fate) instead of use of three other tags to reference usign "mordred" when you only can use the tag fate/apocrypha and fate/grand_order.
Her mordred_(swimsuit_rider)_(fate) isn't making a reference to fate/grand_order as part of his tagg my point isn't make a easy use of tags in a future use this format to make reference to some characters of Fate_(series) like in danbooru we have the tamamo_(fate) tag is the same case.
P.D sorry my English isn't the best but im trying.

I'm not sure how unpopular my take on this may be, but I think the tags should just be left as is, at least for now.

I understand we're a different site and don't need to hold ourselves to the decisions that Danbooru makes with their aliases/implications, but I know that they have many more active contributors that understand the Fate series and it's characters, so whatever decisions they make with the tags are something we could at least use as a framework. Aside from that, I don't like the idea of only doing this for one character. If it's thought that aliasing the "side series" character tags into the "main" one is how we want to do things, then it needs to apply to all characters.

Personally, I pretty much know nothing about any of the characters themselves or their "side" variations, but if any of the variations differ too much from the "main" then aliasing isn't probably a good idea anyway.

Actually your opinion isn't bad, and the part when you say this will be aplicates to all fate characters it's good and I'm thinking in create that post. But my point is in Danbooru we have the global tag for a certain characters my principal idea here is when the tag isn't created created only the for example the tag what "catch all" variations but, as you say we need more opinions about this if someone know about this in this site, your opinion is valid post it no matter if you are a member, builder, etc, don't be afraid of post your opinions this is a step to can how viable is create other implications, and what think the people who uses this site, and take a new road.

I decided to take a look at Danbooru's wiki pages for various "catchall" Fate character tags.

Any one of them that have multiple tags under it have "Variants" and "Costumes" listed, all of which are already implied to the main tag, so I feel like this makes nuking any of these "side" tags pointless and aliasing them is also pointless unless every variant and costume is aliased to their respective main tag.

For searching purposes, I think it's a bad idea and won't make looking for particular images featuring a certain costume any more convenient.

For general purposes, it would end up making Fate characters inconsistent with characters from other copyrights that have a different tag for costumed variations (like Azur Lane, Girls' Frontline, or quite a number of well-known v-tubers) unless we're going to plan on aliasing every alternate version/costume of any character from any copyright to their respective main version tag.

I was thinking about this and we have a misunderstanding here and think is my fault for my poor english explication when i was trying unify the source.

Basically my point is unify the sources of the .
A example is the use of tags in this post
character:artoria_caster_fate
source: fate grand_order
Variation: Artoria_caster_swimsuit
An thats my point we no need make a reference using fate/grand_order in the character tag
Another example is this Mordred post
Character: mordred_fate, mordred fate apocrypha
Source: fate grand order, fate apocrypha
Variation/costume memory at triffas
We really need make a second reference to fate apocrypha in the same tag of Mordred, thats the point i think is redundant.
And same as fate extella, ccc, extra, but we need use of the tag making a reference to the costume.
Remember most of this tag were created when the servants debuted in their games or series that'sinclude light novel manga or anime. Then my point again is unify that in the
"Character_fate" tag that tag englobe the sources extella, ccc, extra, etc , but we need still using variations and costumes tags that never will change.

Actually as player of azur lane and blue archive in this games is as you say we need different tags for they version in azur lane are costumes, and meta versions in blue archive the same game add swimsuit to her versions, or maid or bunny versions,
Other point to make a reference is in the collaborations recently blue archive have a collaboration with to aru kagaku no railgun in the version of shokuhou misaki in Danbooru never appear a shokuhou_misaki_(blue_archive) tag this is a example

same is in the current event of azur lane and his collaboration whith senran kagura example
In Danbooru we only make reference to his source.
PD i think my english cause a confusion about the main idea i have about this topic.
But this is a idea, as you say before we need more opinions about this topic.
